Now I work in the garden only in this outfit. A neighbor saw it and asked me to sew it for her too.

A women's vest is a great addition to your wardrobe. There are two types of vests: as part of a suit and as an outer item. It can be worn naked, on a sweater, T-shirt, dress, under trousers, with a skirt.
The vest is suitable for any body type. If you want to emphasize your waist, wear it with a belt, and if you want to hide excess weight, choose a straight, loose silhouette.
For the off-season, this is the most comfortable type of clothing. The vest protects from wind and cold, due to the fact that there are no sleeves, it is not hot in it. It’s a pleasure to work; when you move, your body warms up, and the vest helps maintain your temperature.
Let's sew an elongated straight vest with a lining without side seams.
To make a pattern, you can trace your own light jacket or use a ready-made one, for example, from the magazine “Burda”.
- For my vest, I took warm fleece knitwear (footer) and a knitwear lining. It is a pleasure to sew from such fabrics. There are no problems when sewing - where necessary, you can stretch or tighten a little, and nothing will be noticeable.
- When sewing, you need to take enough fabric so that the width is the same as the width of the vest when unfolded. I folded the fabric into two parts, attached the back pattern to the fold, then attached the front pattern to the side seam.
- It turned out to be one whole piece. I cut out the same lining, but a little shorter. At this stage, you can pin the shoulder seams and try them on; if there are any shortcomings, correct them.
- I attached a disconnecting zipper to the front part on both sides.
- I unfolded the vest and put the lining on top of the front side, connecting both parts with clothespins.
- Now you need to stitch along the zipper, along the neckline of the front, then the sleeve cap, and the back neckline. The shoulder seams and the bottom of the vest remain unstitched.
- I turned the vest inside out, put the shoulder seams inside each other, and sewed these 4 layers from the wrong side. When turned inside out, the seams are inside.
- Again I turned the vest inside out, stitched the bottom of the vest with the lining, leaving room for turning.
- Where the zipper is, the fabric was straightened and stitched.
- I turned the vest inside out and sewed up the hole by hand.
- I laid a finishing stitch along all edges.
The vest turned out to be warm and comfortable.
