In this episode of Urban Debate, anchor Shreya Dhoundial discusses the outrage over the death of 26-year-old Ernst & Young (EY) employee Anna Sebastian continues, revealing that the company's Pune office lacked a required labour welfare permit. Anna allegedly died due to excessive workload. A senior government official told Reuters that EY has operated without a state permit regulating work hours since 2007. Following Anna's death, her mother blamed the heavy workload in a letter to EY India's chairman, sparking a federal investigation.
A panel of experts has joined Shreya Dhoundial to discuss this in detail. Business Executive Lloyd Mathias says “We need to accept mental health issues are real, for someone 8-hour workday is stressful, somebody will be happy working 10 hours..” Watch the full discussion to know more and follow Mirror Now for the latest updates.
