Our today’s interviewee:
Irena Koźlicka (born in 1935 in Poluchno, Volhynia). Witness to the Volhynia Massacre. She reminisces about her idyllic childhood in Volhynia and the tragic summer of 1943. A Ukrainian friend, Petro Stasiuk, warned her family about the attack planned by Ukrainian nationalists, so they decided to hide. She and her mother hid in the grain, but the attackers discovered them and shot the mother. 8-year old Irena Koźlicka survived and found refuge in Petro Stasiuk’s house. Several weeks later, her father found her and took to Horochów.
