Aviation pioneers the Short Brothers (originally being Eustace, Oswald and then subsequently Horace) founded their business in 1897. Originally making hot air balloons, it later was the first UK heavier than air aircraft manufacturer. They constructed a vast underground air raid shelter and factory to protect their workforce of thousands and the vital equipment during the Second World War. Join the Explorers, Bunker Andy, Lady C and Morlock Roy as we explore this amazing hidden derelict complex. The tunnels are about one and a half to two kilometres long and are complete with hospital, stores, control room, decontamination area, galleries and literally kilometres of air raid shelter seating for thousands of employees. This is a unique journey both into history and into the subterranean bowels of Rochester.
