Hello everyone! Today I’m going to share with you my Hearty Chicken Gravy recipe.
This is a great way to elevate your chicken dishes. We need one whole dressed chicken, shred it into pieces then set aside the chicken meat. In a large soup pot, add the chicken bone & chicken skin; pour 8 cups of water and bring it to a boil for half an hour on medium heat. Next, let’s prepare the dry ingredients. We need,
1 tbsp seasoned salt
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp dried rosemary and garlic
1 tsp oregano
1/2 dried basil
1/4 tsp ground white pepper
1/4 cumin and
1/4 celery salt.
This seems a lot but trust me. I made this recipe many times and it’s not going to disappoint you. After boiling it for half an hour, let’s add the dry ingredients, mix them and simmer for another half an hour.
To enhance the color of the gravy, let’s add a little more smoked paprika. But let’s check if there’s a need to add a dash of seasoned salt. To thicken our chicken gravy, we need half cup of cornstarch and one cup of water, stir them quickly to dissolve the cornstarch. To have a thicker gravy, you can add more cornstarch.
Now, let’s Scoop & remove the chicken skin & bones before adding the cornstarch. Stir it and cook it for a couple of minutes. Once it has thickened, remove it from the heat. Transfer it into a bowl. To have a smooth gravy, use a strainer when pouring it into a bowl. You can pair this with rice, mashed potato or biscuits. To complete your meal, you can serve it with meat or vegetables. There you go, enjoy this savory chicken gravy.
