This was my first visit to Amami Oshima, known as the Galapagos of the Orient.
It is the third largest island in Japan, and is larger than the 23 wards of Tokyo.

I stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days to get around the island.
This is a long journey, so I will deliver it in 3 parts.
The first part is a video of a day's tour of the northern part of Amami Oshima.
