Racial trauma, or race-based stress, is the psychological and physiological distress people of color suffer in reaction to experiences of racism, discrimination, and microaggressions. Such experiences include witnessing violence against another person of color (e.g., the video of George Floyd’s murder). Black people are more exposed to racism and discrimination than any other ethnic or racial group. In this episode of Figure Out Your Life podcast, I discuss racial trauma and share 10 ways to cope with race-based stress.
