I wrote this song after a trip to Prince Edward County in the green of summertime. I was reflecting on the kind of love and companionship that feels like home. The melody felt immediately comforting to me, and I tried to stay within its spell throughout the writing process. I especially love the simple, domestic sweetness of the line “leave a poem on the table, leave a flower in the bowl”. It’s where love and friendship meet.
