(12 Dec 2014) The funeral was held of Belgium's Queen Fabiola on Friday at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels, one week after her death.
Fabiola was a popular figure in Belgium, and was very close to her husband, the late King Baudouin.
She died last Friday, aged 86.
A number of European royals attended her funeral.
The royal palace said Fabiola died at her Stuyvenberg castle in Brussels, and no cause of death was given. However, she had used a wheelchair, was increasingly frail looking and limited her public appearances more and more.
King Philippe said he was left with "great sadness" when he heard of the death of his aunt.
Spanish-born Fabiola and King Baudouin had shared a deep belief in Roman Catholic values.
The couple was reclusive and remained childless following several miscarriages.
