“The End of An Era” by Chimamaka Adeniyi.
I wrote this poem once I got back home from school after basically haggling the last session on the wheelbarrow of my poor brain. I felt free, like I could breathe in fresh air finally without thinking of the next pdf to regurgitate or the next paper😭
I had a LOT of time to reflect on my freshman year - I enjoyed every single part of it, and now I’m moving on to a new stage. It’s not much, but it felt like the opening of fresh petals. And it wasn’t just me...my friends signed out, graduated, discovered new things, started new businesses and on a whole moved on to newer horizons this summer. I was so happy for them, and for myself too.
