කාෂ්‍යප බුදුන් රාවණ නම් අයෙකුට පැවසු විශ්වයේන් සියලූ ශක්තින් ලබා ගතහැකි මංත‍්‍රය.අභයගිරිය සහ ජේතවනාරාමය නමින් බුදුසමයට අයත් ප‍්‍රධාන පුදබිම් තුනක් බිහිවිය. ඒ අතරේ දාගැබ් තුනක්ද ඉදිවිය. එම දැගැබ් අතරේද ජේතවනාරාමය අතිවිශාල දැවැන්ත ගඩොළු කර්මාන්තයක් ලෙසින් හැඳින්විය හැකිය.මෙම දාගැබ පිළිබඳ සඳහන් කරනවිට මිසරයේ ඉදිකරන ලද ගීසා පිරමීඩ දෙකක පමණක් දෙවැනි වූ උසකින් යුක්ත වූවක් සේ සැලකේ.ජේතවනාරාමය හෙළ රාවණ ඉතිහාසයට ඉතා වැදගත් ස්ථානයකි හෙළ භික්ෂුන් ධ්‍යන වැඩු ස්ථානය මෙයයි මහයානික ලෙසින් හංවඩු ගසා හෙළ භික්ෂුන් හෙළ භූමියෙන් එළවා දමා සියලූ දැනුම විනාශ කර දමන්නේද ඒ භූමියේදීමය.ලංකාවතාර සූත්‍රය දේශනා කරන ලද්දේ රාවණා රජතුමා සඳහා බව ලංකාවතාර සූත්‍රයේ ම සඳහන් වෙනවා. මහායන ධර්මයේ ඇති ප්‍රධාන සූත්‍රයත් මෙයයි. රාවණා රජතුමා බුදුන් දවස මෙහි විසු කාලය සමාන විය හැකියි. විජයාවතරණය පිළිබඳ කාලය සඳහන් වන්නේත් මහාවංසයේ. එය දැඩි ථෙරවාදී සම්ප්‍රදාය මත ලියූ කෘතියක්. මහසෙන් රජු ජනතාව අතර දෙවියෙක් වූවත් ඔහු ගැන ද ඇත්තේ ගාථා හතරයි. ඒ නිසා රාවණ රජු ගැන මහාවංසයේ වර්ණා නොවීම පුදුම විය යුත්තක් නොවේ.මේ පළමු රාවණා රජ්ජුරුවො තමයි ඔය කියන රාමායණ කතා වස්තුවේ ඉන්න පුලතිසි රජතුමාගේ මුනුබුරා. ඊට පස්සෙ තවත් රාවණා රජ කෙනෙක් ගෞතම බුදුන් වැඩ සිටි කාලයේ සිට තිබෙනවා. එතුමාගේ කාලයේදී බුදුන් ලංකාවට වැඩියා කියලා තමයි මහායානයේ තිබෙන මේ ලංකාවතාර සූත්‍රයේදී කියන්නෙ.රාවණා රජු ශ්‍රී පාදස්ථානයේ දී බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගෙන් ධර්මය අසා තිබේ

The time of Vijayavatarana is also mentioned in Mahavansa. It is a work written in strict Theravada tradition. Although King Mahasen was a god among the people, there are four stanzas about him. Therefore, it should not be surprising that King Ravana is not mentioned in the Mahavamsa. This first Ravana king is the grandson of King Pulatisi in the story of Ramayana. After that, there was another Ravana king from the time of Gautama Buddha.
