MT. RUSHMORE- What to do at Mount Rushmore, Hiking the Presidential Trail, How Close can you get?

We visited Mount Rushmore South Dakota and we had all of the expected questions before getting started. How close can you get? What to do at Mount Rushmore? Is it tough hiking the Presidential Trail? We were prepared just to take pictures at the Presidents' Monument but luckily there was more! The Presidential Trail is a great option to see a the Black Hills that call Mt. Rushmore home. The Presidential Trail is a loop that goes to the Base of Mt. Rushmore. If you're wondering How close can you get? this trail will answer that question!

The trail is paved, and planked with little to no natural trail. There are quite a few stairs, but the part to the south, to the the left if you're looking at Mt. Rushmore from the observation deck.
