After many years of working on it, I'm finally ready to tackle a lesson series on the harmonica instrumental classic, "Whammer Jammer". The thesis is: Whammer Jammer is a masterclass of fundamental blues harmonica techniques. It's also an exquisite example of a show-stopping harmonica instrumental. It's also fun, and deceptively easy. The parts are all fairly standard, the hard part is putting it all together, and keeping a groove. We're going to break down the parts, break down the licks, break down the breaks. . . break down the whole thing. This is just a teaser, a tiny peek into the study of the old masters Magic Dick drew upon consciously or unconsciously in WJ's creation. Thinking about the very last lick, it sounds like it could be two licks from Juke, just re-imagined. The primary goal may be to learn this tune, but the long-term goal is for the player to make his or her own instrumental signature piece(s).

I'll be working from the "Full House Live" version of the song. The Key is E. The harmonica key is A. Tab for this lick: 6B, 5D, 4D, 4B. . . 3D', 3D, 4D, 5B, 6B
