This is Saitou Kazuyoshi's debut single and is about the feeling of being born too late for everything, constantly being compared to earlier times. As a fan of the Beatles, hard rock and heavy metal, he was born long after the glory days of rock/metal. It doesn't help either that he was born in one of the safest countries in the world. This may be a first-world problem, but I'm sure that many can relate to this feeling.

T/L note: The line お互い棚の上に登りゃ神様さ (But we'll all be the same when we end up an altar on a shelf.) was the toughest to translate as it could have multiple meanings. The obvious one is that we are all equal in death, as ending up an altar on a shelf is an euphemism for dying. In Japan, it's customary to put up an altar for your ancestors and dead family members in your house. Even the most famous and important person will one day turn into an altar on a shelf. Another possible meaning is that whoever dies first gets treated like a god. You can observe this a lot with artists, especially rock stars. Living stars are often neglected while dead ones are glorified. The same thing can be said about the times in general. Current times are always criticized, while past eras are glorified.
