A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada is renowned as the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and a key figure in spreading Bhakti Yoga and the teachings of Lord Krishna across the globe. Born as Abhay Charan De on September 1, 1896, in Calcutta, India, Srila Prabhupada was spiritually inclined from an early age. His life took a significant turn when he met his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, in 1922, who encouraged him to share the teachings of Lord Krishna with the English-speaking world.

Despite many personal challenges, Srila Prabhupada left India at the age of 69, in 1965, to fulfill his master’s mission, arriving in New York City with little more than his faith, a few books, and a desire to share the message of the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. In 1966, he established ISKCON, which grew rapidly, inspiring millions to embrace Krishna Consciousness through his lectures, books, and personal example.

Srila Prabhupada translated over 70 volumes of Vedic scriptures, including the Bhagavad Gita As It Is and the Srimad Bhagavatam, making the teachings accessible to the modern world. His tireless efforts to establish temples, educational institutions, and agricultural communities, alongside his focus on the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, laid the foundation for a spiritual movement that thrives worldwide today.

Srila Prabhupada passed away on November 14, 1977, but his legacy continues through his books, teachings, and the global ISKCON movement, inspiring people to lead a life of devotion, service, and spiritual awakening.
