This is a powerful hymn of Faith written by Paul Gerhardt a German, Lutheran minister during the 17th century. Gerhardt was no 'ivory tower' theologian, but one who faced many trials and tribulations throughout his life and ministry. The hymn is based on Psalm 62 and you can also notice the inspiration he gained from the last verses found in chapter eight of Paul's letter to the Romans. I personally have been encouraged by this hymn since I first came across it around fifty years ago. This version is with an original tune. May it be a blessing to you.
