This video is a Non-Commercial short fan film. This video contains copyrighted music/sounds owned by Microsoft, Bohemia Interactive, and Bungie.

This short film is a creative interpretation of actual events in the Halo canon, which you can read more about here: https://www.halopedia.org/United_Rebe...

Fun Facts:
1. This video took 5 months to produce.
2. The soundmix for the video is nearly 100% re-made in post production. The only exceptions are to the Warthog sounds, which come from the captured footage.
3. The first HEV landing took 2 months to learn how to do. It's much more complicated than "just drop a HEV in front of the camera".
4. There is about 32GB of footage that was recorded for this project. There is an additional 798MB of blooper takes.
5. The UNSC Frigate is a static object in the game. To make it move, it is attached to a Blackfish VTOL (via SQF command attachTo) and utilizes BIS_fnc_UnitPlay/BIS_fnc_UnitCapture. However, the film script needed it to move in a straight line at a steady pace and the Blackfish had trouble of maintaining speed below 200KM/s. To make it move slower, a Java program was created that doubled the amount of frames created from BIS_fnc_UnitCapture and then halved the velocity for each frame.
6. No custom terrains were used. This was filmed entirely in Altis and New Albany is placed over top of Kavala.
7. Filmed entirely in single player.
8. When a bullet impact on the ground was required visually, invisible floating AI with their guns pointed at the ground were scripted to fire a single shot. This technique was also used for Gauss Slugs at one point.
9. The first thing made for the film was the Draco III planet model. It uses images of stars and clouds provided by NASA on their website.
10. At one point in the render for the Draco III planet, each frame was taking 8 hours to render. Note that the render was at 60fps, meaning that it was rendering 1/60th of a second every 8 hours at one point.
11. The film was intended to be 9 minutes originally.
12. The film was originally going to have Thel 'Vadam (The Arbiter) as a CGI character. The only reason why he wasn't in the final product was because of possible story/canon conflictions.
