Mike Pekovich is teaching students how to make a cool little tea chest. What makes this project fantastic is that it combines a variety of techniques, skills, and challenges into a really small package, and the students are having a blast making it. The main components of the piece are hand-cut dovetails, rope handles, and Kumiko panels that fill in the lid. The lid is unique in that it hinges in the center, allowing you to pull out a tray for all your tea, and then the lid slides over to the other side, where there is a second tray. It's been a week full of new skills and challenges, with great students.
