“Many people think that a painter whitens a wall – and anyone can do that,” says master painter Jessica. She thinks her job is so cool that she is active as an influencer on Instagram. The craft offers a lot of variety and great career opportunities, says journeyman Janick. He has just been in Rwanda on business and is now training for the World Skills Championship: special painting techniques and wallpaper gluing with complicated patterns. Janick's family runs a painting business in the Rhine-Main area and oversees large construction projects with 1,300 apartments as well as the renovation of an Art Nouveau villa.
