This rather common coin introduced after Diocletian's reform in AD 294, may not have been of great value; however it played an important role in the little payments of everyday's life: the payment to the barber, the boatman, the water-carrier; rarely hoarded, they are however frequently found as "stray finds" by metal-detectors and farmers and are to be found in most collections of Roman coins.
