Doctors Muse and Kraft discuss arthritis, a common complaint seen at CCRC. The good news, if you've been diagnosed with arthritis, is that the presence of arthritis does not automatically correlate with pain. A recent example of this from our clinic is an individual who has previously been diagnosed with severe arthritic changes in both knees by X-ray. The catch is that the individual was only coming in for knee pain on one side. If the presence of arthritis automatically meant there would be pain, then it doesn't make sense that he's experiencing symptoms only on one side.

Mechanical arthritis occurs over years and years of overloading specific areas of a structure. Repetitive motions, increased weight, pro-inflammatory diets, and more can lead to progressive arthritic changes.

Arthritis is also normal for the aging body, think of arthritis as wrinkles on the inside, we all have it. Maintaining proper mobility and strength, eating anti-inflammatory foods, and regular exercise can help limit the extent of your arthritic changes over time.
