THE BRS ALLIANCE / PLIK PLOK Entertainment Presents Richmond ROBOTTIN Dance Styles

ROBOTTER'S ROOM Video Series (Featurette #6) [HD]
Video Clip Title: "Solo & Group / The City of Richmond / History"
Based on the book "ROBOTS OF RICHMOND"

Dance Artist / @BRSdanceStyles Choreographer Ralph "Plik Plok" Montejo delves into the history of the "Robot Dance" culture in the Northern Bay Area's City of Richmond, California USA, capturing the robotic movement of dancers with moves so fascinating, and filled with rich history that they warrant a special disclaimer. The documentary centers on the city's natives, and their perspective stories on "ROBOT DANCE", and the social components that evolved from the community's local "Talent Shows" of the 1970's and early 1980's at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium. The community-popular Talent Shows had a huge impact in the development of the city's overall cultural fabric by giving the neighborhood children opportunities and choices that involved the concepts of reaching certain goals in order to participate. These opportunities allowed them to focus on competition, showmanship and prize money; prior to the emergence of the heightened Northern California Bay Area illegal drug wars and its associated violence and crime. Co-Directed by Ralph "Plik Plok" Montejo.
