Never put pliers on a cylinder shaft or damage in any way, these rams are very expensive, for a genuine Mercedes one you are looking at $1,126.00 AU or a rebuilt 2nd hand one $200.00 on ebay. I should have mentioned that it is easier to put the green seal on the shaft and push it into the end fitting.
