Bernard Chevalier, violin. Friends, when I play etudes, I always try to discover the musical feeling lying hidden underneath the technical emphasis. Sometimes, I feel I need to change the printed fingerings and/or bowings. In this Etude #1, I changed both. Particularly adjusting the bowings allowed me to give more exaggeration to the hairpins... dynamics: crescendo/diminuendo. As you practice the etude, try it the original way first then experiment with a method that satisfies your musical emotions.
