Bali, Mallorca, Mykonos. Kiki loves to travel. And she always likes to come back home, because she has transformed her cottage into a beach house with a vacation flair.

Kiki always brings something from her vacation back home to the Palatinate. Sometimes it's ideas and suggestions, sometimes it's dishes, decorative items or even a sink. Souvenirs from different travel destinations can be found everywhere in her house. However, she does not buy souvenirs indiscriminately, but always knows exactly where the things should find a place in her house. Over the years, she has transformed her small sandstone house in Weisenheim am Berg into a beach cottage with a vacation feeling.

She discovered the house itself through the parents of her best friend. They had bought the ramshackle house in 2015, renovated it and set up a decor store and a vacation apartment. Kiki accompanied the remodeling phase and even then she was completely in love with the 100-year-old cottage, which is only 100 square meters in total. When her friend's parents wanted to sell the house again five years ago, Kiki was immediately on hand and was able to buy it at a friend's price.

She then adapted the small brownstone to her needs. In particular, she had a covered terrace added according to her designs. To create the right beach vibes, the terrace is decorated with a bamboo roof, deck chairs and lanterns, and most importantly, painted white. Kiki has to renew the paint every year, but the look is worth it to her.

She has always been able to count on the support of her father for any work that needs to be done. Whether it was larger measures, such as installing a stove, or small things, such as touching up the plaster or hanging a lamp - her father was always ready to help in order to fulfill his daughter's dream home. In 2021, Kiki's father passed away. And because her father's work is everywhere in the house, the cottage now has an additional emotional value for Kiki.

Even as a child, Kiki was fascinated by Mallorcan beach style. That's how her desire to have a home where you feel like you're on vacation came about at an early age. She has furnished her little house accordingly. There are souvenirs of vacation trips everywhere: the old chest she found at a junk dealer in Holland, bowls and reed mats from Bali, the washstand in the bathroom she discovered on Mallorca.

Kiki describes herself as a decorator. She loves to rearrange old things, constantly changing the decoration in the house. For the decoration she always finds things in the Palatinate, especially during walks with her dog Oskar. An old picture frame, a gnarled vine, rusted metal baskets - what is trash to other people, Kiki uses to decorate her home.

Kiki is a very hospitable person. Her friends come often and gladly to enjoy the homey atmosphere. In addition, a baking class has even been filmed in the space. And a man once rented her beach cottage for a night to propose to his girlfriend, which was fortunately successful.
