It's Inktober... or Drawtober, or DRACtober, as I'll be drawing vampires all month. In this art vlog, I'm starting on this art challenge journey, show the prep and planning that went into it, layout sketches & color studies... and then dive into the actual drawing process: a mixed media approach including a traditional ink stone. I'm also introducing some of my favorite prompt lists if you need inspiration to get started - it's never too late 🖤🦇

I'm painting a series of illustrations based on Bram Stoker's "Dracula", starting with cute, simple character art, but then turning darker as the book progresses, with tarot card inspired art... and all of these, as well as larger, more elaborate illustrations I've painted over the year, will then come together in a small art zine.

I got my ink stick and ink stone years ago here in South Korea, but similar ones can be found all over the world.
Hanji - Korean traditional paper - comes both in very thin, nearly transparent sheets for calligraphy, and the heavier version I use here.
