Hi friends ! welcome to Chennai samayalagam

In this video we are going to see how to make verkadalai chutney (peanut chutney) in tamil

Ingredients : peanut - 100 grams (roasted and peeled), onion - 1 (big size), ginger- 1 inch, garlic - 5 cloves (peeled), dry red chilli – 3 nos, mustard – 1 tsp, urad dal (black gram) - 1 tsp, curry leaves - 2 sprigs, asafoetida powder - ¼ tsp, tamarind - 1 big gooseberry size, oil - 5 ½ tsp, salt as much as necessary and some water to grind chutney

Note : 1. Cut onion, ginger & red chillies as shown in the video, 2. As we using already roasted peanuts no need to fry for long time, 3. We are making this peanut chutney for 4 to 5 persons

keep a pan in the stove and pour 2 ½ tsp of oil to it - add peanuts and sauté until it becomes hot - now transfer peanuts in a plate - in the same leftover oil add dry red chillies, ginger & garlic cloves - sauté until garlic turns light golden colour - then add onion and sauté until raw smell goes away - now add everything in the plate with peanuts and let them cool - then transfer them to a mixie jar - now add tamarind, salt and necessary water and grind to make a smooth chutney - for tempering heat 3 tsp oil in a pan - add mustard to it and allow to crackle - add black gram, curry leaves and sauté until black gram turns light brown - also add asafoetida powder and mix - switch off the stove - finally pour the tempering over the chutney and mix well - now the yummy peanut chutney is ready to serve
