Con lo scopo di effettuare i primi campionamenti di microplastica nella nostra area di studio, i ricercatori di Oceanomare Delphis hanno affiancato in questi giorni il team di Greenpeace Italia e The Blue Dream Project insieme a ricercatori e biologi del CNR di Genova e dell’Università Politecnica delle Marche, impegnati nel "May Day SOS Plastica Tour", una spedizione nel mar Tirreno per monitorare l’impatto che la plastica ha sull’ecosistema marino.
“Mahayana”, la splendida goletta impegnata nel progetto, è stata affiancata da "Jean Gab" il cutter d'epoca della nostra associazione.
I campionamenti sono avvenuti nella zona D dedicata ai cetacei del Regno di Nettuno AMP in aree di alimentazione da noi segnalate a Greenpeace per poter studiare la correlazione tra le concentrazioni di microplastica e di prede degli animali. I ricercatori hanno incontrato un branco di #stenelle "Stenella coeruleoalba" e sono riusciti a realizzare delle splendide immagini con il nostro drone.

With the objective of carrying out the first sampling of microplastics in our study area, the researchers from Oceanomare Delphis have recently joined the team of Greenpeace Italy and The Blue Dream Project together with researchers and biologists from the CNR of Genoa and the Polytechnic University of Marche, engaged in the "May Day SOS Plastics Tour", an expedition in the Tyrrhenian Sea to study the impact of plastic on the marine ecosystem.
In order to study the correlation between the concentrations of microplastics and whale and dolphin preys we have indicated to Greenpeace the main cetaceans' feeding areas.
The collection of plastic samples took place off Ischia, in the D zone, the part of the Regno di Nettuno Marine Protected Area dedicated to cetaceans.
You can see in the above video "Mahayana", the splendid schooner of The Blue Dream Project, sailing with "Jean Gab", the historic cutter of our association.
The researchers met a group of striped dolphins "Stenella coeruleoalba" and were able to take beautiful pictures with the drone.
