1. Cheongseongjajinhanip (Chungseonggok) 1:20

Daegeum Yang Inseong

'Cheongseongjajinhanip’ is a representative jeongak solo piece of daegeum and danso. It means to play ‘Jajin Hanip’, a wind instrument ensemble piece that is a variation of Gagok, in ‘cheongseong’, that is, a high sound. Among the gagok, the melody of ‘Taepyeongga’ was raised by a major 2 degrees or an octave and the melody was freely transformed, and it is also called ‘Yocheonsuniljigok’. It is a song that lets you feel the charm of daegeum through cool high notes and cheong sounds.

2. Chwita Pungryu 10:46

Daegeum Yang Inseong
Haegeum Kang Hyun-ji
Janggu Hwang Jeong-hyeon

‘Chwita’ means ‘to blow and hit’, and it is a ‘haengak’ that was played during the king’s procession and military procession. Currently, Chwita-related music is classified into two categories: Jeongak and folk music. The suite of Jeongak is called ‘Chwitagyeju’, and the folk music that has been handed down in the private sector is called ‘Chita Pungryu’. Chwita Pungryu consists of 6 songs: ‘Chwita – Gilgunak – Giltaryeong – Yeombultaryeong – Samhyeontaryeong – Byeolgok Taryeong’, and is originally a 'Samhyeon Yukgak' arrangement of daegeum, two piris, haegeum, janggu, and jwago. In today's performance, a small arrangement of daegeum, haegeum, and janggu is played shorter than original.

3. Seo Yong-seok Ryu Daegeum Sanjo 29:34

Daegeum Yang Inseong
Janggu Hwang Jeong-hyeon

‘Sanjo’ is a representative folk instrumental solo piece that means ‘scattered melodies’. It is a heoteungarak composed by the masters of each instrument from Sinawi or Pansori tunes or by adding their own tunes. Sanjo, like pansori, is played by a soloist and a janggu/buk accompanist, and has a form according to the hanbae, which gradually speeds up from slow to fast. In addition, since technical skills and expressive power are maximized in sanjo, the charm of each instrument and the skill of the performer are best displayed.
'Seo Yong-seok Style Daegeum Sanjo', which will be played today, is a daegeum sanjo composed by the late 'Beautiful Forest(nickname)' Master Seo Yong-seok. It is a style with a passionate charm that has a strong texture and powerful sigimsae in the progression of 'Jinyang-Jungmori-Jungjungmori-Jajinmori'.

4. ‘Silk Fog’ for daegeum and gayageum (by Kim Dae-seong, 2007) 48:20

Daegeum Yang Inseong
Gayageum Yang Hee-yoon

This piece was composed in 2007, and the composer musicalized his experiences in his late 20s.
The sorrow and despair of unattainable love flow throughout this song. It depicts the beautiful scenery of a snowy scene in which flowers bloom amid painful memories and sadness of a snowy day.
The daegeum and gayageum require the highest level of technique, and are works that structurally create the ever-changing romantic mind of the composer, regardless of Korean rhythms and beats.
