Marianne Vos won the 2024 Women's Gravel World Championships. She can change the air pressure on her racing bike on the go. We took a closer look at Vos' Cervélo Áspero. We also spoke to the German co-favorite for the men's race Paul Voß about his Orbea Terra and talked to Unbound XL winner Sebastian Breuer about tire pressure and tire choice in gravel races.

The fact that Marianne Vos won the 2024 Gravel World Championships on her Cervélo Áspero puts her bike in a different light. Especially the fact that a technology that is still very new was used on board her bike. Vos used the Gravaa Kaps system, which allows the air pressure to be changed while riding. The noticeably larger hubs serve as compressors and pump air into the tire as required or a valve releases air, for example to have less air in the tire for rough passages such as cobblestones - or on gravel.

The power is provided by the rotation of the wheel - ultimately the rider.

Users can specify the air pressure values that the Gravaa should produce in advance via the app and then "shift through" different pressure points at the touch of a button, just like shifting gears. Whether it should be 0.1 bar steps or 0.5 bar - the choice is up to the riders. They can then control the pressure points during the race.
