In this video I attempt to clean up two vintage lens favourites - my Olympus Zuiko 50mm f1.4 and a Helios 44-3 50mm f2.
The Helios is very simple to take apart and clean, and if you haven't tried lens servicing before, it's a great place to start. The Olympus is more complex and I was a bit nervous about opening it up - if I got it wrong, the lens would quickly become a paperweight!
Both of these lenses had lots of haze inside, which significantly degraded the images they made, so something had to be done!
Were my amateur tinkerings successful, or did I rush in like a fool and get it wrong? Check out the video to find out how I got on!
