Shot at rugged Middle Cove beach just a 20-minute drive from St. John's, these tiny fish are just some of the bounty that draws thousands of whales to the shores of Newfoundland and Labrador each year. Every June to July, a thick wave of capelin spawn on our beaches and their frenzy attracts not only humpbacks, but people and children too, just waiting to take part in the capelin scull, dipping their nets and buckets to scoop up a delicious, healthy snack to cook over the barbeque or campfire.
