New Orleans is the birthplace of the Blues. Considering this fact, might as well publish a blues rendition of that song.

There is a house, a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
It's been, it's a been the ruin of many a poor boy
A many a poor boy, and lord, oh lordy lordy
I was one of those boys.

My mama was a tailor, she sewed them new blue jeans of mine
Yeah she sewed, yeah she sewed them new blue jeans of mine
Them new blue jeans of mine, them new blue jeans of mine
She was a tailor, sewed them new blue jeans of mine
Way down in New Orleans.

My papa was a gambler, and he was a loanshark
He carried yeah he carried a pair of Colt Dragoons
On his hips strapped to his waist, strapped to his waist
He was a gambler, he was a loanshark
Way down in New Orleans

Mamas and papas, tell your little bitty babies now
Please don't do what I've done, no don't oh no don't
none of them things I've done or you'll face the consequences
And you'll pay the price, you'll spend your lives, your lives
In a sin and a misery way down in New Orleans.

Now the only thing, the only thing a gambler needs, is
A suitcase and a trunk. And the fastest horse in town
For riding on out of there when the going gets tough
And things get too rough. The only thing, the only thing
that keeps him satisfied is to stay rotten drunk.

I got one foot, one foot on the platform, the other is on the train
It's on, yeah it's on that railroad train that's
A leavin' for New Orleans, a leavin' for New Orleans
I'm a goin' back, back to that god-awful house of the Risin' Sun
To wear that god-awful ball and chain.

There is a house, a house in New Orleans. It's called the Risin' Sun
It's a been, it's a been the ruin of many a poor boy, a many a poor boy
And a lord, o lordy lordy I was one of them boys, I was one of them boys
I was one of them boys.
