DJAM! is the musical monster alliance between two master guitarists: Joep Pelt and Bounaly Traoré. As a teenager, Joep went to his musical heroes in Mississippi and realised music projects in Mali, South Africa and Ethiopia. With his eclectic guitar playing, Joep effortlessly builds bridges between different musical worlds. Bounaly, the greatest guitar talent in Northern Mali, mixes hypnotic sounds of the Sahel with rousing rhythms of the capital Bamako. Drummer Randell Sambo and bassist Kyan Sambo bring modern soul/funk influences and Caribbean rhythms. The result? An adventurous musical mix where sitting still is not an option!

DJAM! takes its name from what dancers on the dance floor in Northern Mali shout to each other, which literally means 'happiness'. Residents of Bounaly's native village of Niafunké cherish this concept despite the difficult living conditions. DJAM!'s music sheds a human light on the crisis in Northern Mali and unites the audience in a universal message of love and solidarity.
