We spent an amazing sailing holiday circumnavigating Lanzarote over one week in Jan/Feb 2019 on a Bavaria 51 provided by Lava Charter and skippered by Buster Nixon from Yachtforce.

We started in Arrecife, spent a day beating upwind to Graciosa Island, then coasted downwind to Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca. We worked our way back around the island stopping at Isla de Lobos and Puerto Calero before heading back into Arrecife.

We spotted 3 separate pods of common dolphins surfing our bow wave on our first day and then a lone Risso's dolphin on the last day. The video shows the Risso's first and the common dolphins towards the end of the video.

We experienced up to force 6 winds and a 3m Atlantic swell, enjoyed meeting likeminded folk, swimming in turquoise waters, isolated anchorages, stone rutting circles and stretches of golden sands, viewing the land from a different perspective, developing skills and understanding a little more about ourselves. Not forgetting the joy of sharing stories over gin, beer and crisps with new friends after a long day at sea.

Great to meet Skipper Buster, First Mate Vicky and crew; Alan, Julie, Martin, Rob & Sarah.
