In this tutorial we will break down how to use Davinci Resolve as a 3D Artist. Davinci Resolve becomes more and more popular due to it's amazing features, most of them can be used completely for free.

We will setup a basic rendering using V-Ray and render everything in ACEScg colorspace. In the VFB we will apply custom color corrections and special effects. We will talk about the various important steps to setup your Render Settings and VFB Settings to export a correct Multichannel EXR in ACES colorspace.

In Davinci Resolve we will then reassamble the various render channels, apply our custome LUT and special effects to replicate our rendering from V-Ray. We will also discuss various other Tips + Tricks such as how to use proper Caching and how to use Cryptomattes for localized color adjustments. This workflow allows for maximum flexibility as you will be able to fully control all elements of the rendering in Davinci Resolve.

I am using 3ds Max and V-Ray 6 in this demo but you can also use identical techniques for older versions. A similar workflow can also be used in other software such as Cinema4d, Maya, Blender and different kind of render engine such as Corona, Octane, Redshift, Arnold, Cycles, CyclesX, Eevee and countless others.
