The saying of the Prophet

(SallAllāhu Alaihi wa Sallam):

 “… within which is my life and livelihood…”
 means:
(this Dunya) is (both)
the place where I will live and the time-span of my life.
There is an indication in these words that people,
in this world,
will have a limited life-span and a fixed amount of provisions
and that one will never die until he/she complctes it
(i.e. lives out the fixed
period of one’s life
and reccives the fixed amount of one’s provisions)

Allah says in hilly quran:

.لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا بِالْحُسْنَى

“…that He might punish
those who do evil, in accordance with that which they have done
(i.e. punish them in Hell),
and reward those
who have done good with what is best
(i.e. paradise).”
[Soorah an-Najm (53):31]
