10 Facts about Penguin
Hi. I am a penguin and I will tell you ten facts about me.
Fact 1: There are seventeen to twenty species of penguins alive today, all of which inhabit the southern half of the globe.
Fact 2: I can't fly through the air, but many species take to the air when they leap from the water onto the ice.
Fact 3: Most penguins swim underwater at around four to seven miles per hour, mph, but the fastest, the Gentoo penguin, can reach top speeds of twenty-two miles per hour.
Fact 4: Our blackbacks blend into the dark ocean water when viewed from above, while our white bellies match the bright surface lit by sunlight from below.
Fact 5: The earliest known penguin fossil was found in 61.6 million-year-old Antarctic rock, about four, five million years after the mass extinction that killed the dinosaurs.
Fact 6: I lack teeth. Instead, I have backward-facing, fleshy spines lining
the inside of my mouth.
Fact 7: I am a carnivore, feeding on fish, squid, crabs, krill, and other seafood I catch while swimming.
Fact 8: I drink a lot of salt water due to their seafood diet
Fact 9:we are monogamous We form strong pair bonds and often mate for life share parenting duties and support each other.
Fact 10: The largest living penguin species is the emperor penguin known for its impressive size and resilience in the harsh Antarctic environment.
