In the late 1800's, emigrants crossed the Nevada Black Rock Desert in covered wagons. This crossing was beyond difficult. Many miles of desert playa with no water, extreme heat, alkali dust, and many perished. Once clear of the Black Rock Desert, they went north up High Rock Canyon. This is a stunning canyon with very steep high rock walls, and an amazing amount of water. As I rode up to this canyon, I could feel the solitude and the desperation of being in the middle of nowhere with no one to help if the need presented itself. I had to be completely self supported. There is no one to call as you are out of cell range, and no services for at least 60 miles. Then I hit High Rock Canyon, full of water, full of wild life, full of grass. I now know why the emigrants went up this canyon. It was an amazing trip. This trip is also an easy vehicle trip if you have a high clearance vehicle. You only need the clearance in a couple spots, but mostly drivable. Completely worth the trip.
