This lecture is a part of CS2003 Introduction of Structure Design subject for the second year Civil Engineering students at James Cook University, Townsville Australia. Though the design examples mentioned in this lecture are based on Australian Standards AS4100, the fundamental design concepts will be applicable anywhere.
