COOL JAZZ EXERCISE: lick on II-Vs through the cycle of 5ths (4ths).A bebop type lick that develops facility for improvisation in all keys. Good for all instruments- for ear training and interval knowledge. For pianists it develops left hand techniques in shell voicings and rootless voicings through the cycle. This exercise is best learned by ear, but a score will be available to start with on website. Go to website for lessons in Left hand voicings using the author's book: Jazz Piano: Methods and Songbook for professional playing. https://www.kenthewitt.com
Credit given to saxophonist Kirk Feather for inventing and passing on this lick for analysis.
