What is Mayavada? There is a quotation in shastra saying that Lord Shiva appears as Shankaracharya to deviate human race, but why?

tvam ārādhya tatha śambho grahiṣyāmi varaṁ sadā

dvāparādau yuge bhūtvā kalayā mānuṣādiṣu

svāgamaiḥ kalpitais tvaṁ ca janān mad-vimukhān kuru

maṁ ca gopaya yena syāt sṛṣṭir eṣottarottarā

Viṣṇu said, “O Śambhu, although I am Bhagavān, still I have worshiped different devatās and devīs to bewilder the asuras. In the same way, I shall worship you as well, and receive a benediction. In Kali-yuga you should incarnate amongst human beings through your partial expansion. You should preach from śāstras like Āgama, and fabricate a philosophy that will distract the general mass of people away from Me, and keep Me covered. In this way, more and more people will be diverted away from Me, and My pastimes will become all the more valuable.” (Padma Purāṇa, Uttara khaṇḍa (42.109–110))

eṣa mohaṁ sṛjāmy āśu ye janān mohayiśyati

tvāṁ ca rudra mahābāho moha śāṣtrānī kāraya

atathyāni vitathyāni darśayasva mahābhuja

prakāśaṁ kuru cātmānam aprakāśaṁ ca mām kuru

“I am creating the kind of illusion (moha) that will delude the mass of people. O strong-armed Rudra, you also create such a deluding śāstra. O mighty-armed one, present fact as falsehood, and falsehood as fact. Give prominence to your destructive Rudra form and conceal My eternal original form as Bhagavān.” (Varāha Purāṇa, Bhagavān tells Śiva)

māyāvādam asac-chāstraṁ pracchannaṁ bauddham ucyate

mayaiva kalpitaṁ devi kalau brāhmaṇa-rūpiṇā

brahmaṇaś cāparaṁ rūpaṁ nirguṇaṁ vakṣyate mayā

sarva-svaṁ jagato ’py asya mohanārthaṁ kalau yuge

vedānte tu mahā-śāstre māyāvādam avaidikam

mayaiva vakṣyate devi jagatāṁ nāśa-kāraṇāt

“The Māyāvāda philosophy is veiled Buddhism. [In other words, the voidist philosophy of Buddha is more or less repeated in the Māyāvāda philosophy of impersonalism, although the Māyāvādīphilosophers claim to be directed by the Vedic conclusions.] As a brāhmaṇa boy, I manufacture this philosophy in the Age of Kali to mislead the atheists. Actually, the Supreme Personality of Godhead has His transcendental body, but I describe the Supreme as impersonal. I also explain the Vedānta-sūtra according to the same principles of Māyāvāda philosophy.” (Padma Purāṇa, Lord Śiva tells his wife Bhagavatī Devī)

Lord Śiva continues speaking to Bhāgavatī Devī as follows:

(4)

śṛṇu devi pravakṣyāmi tāmasāni yathā-kramam

yeṣāṁśravaṇa-mātreṇa pātityaṁ jñāninām api

apārthaṁśruti-vākyānāṁ darśayaḹ loka-garhitam

karma-svarūpa-tyājyatvam atra ca pratipadyate

sarva-karma-paribhraṁśān naiṣkarmyaṁ tatra cocyate

parātma-jīvayor aikyaṁ mayātra pratipadyate

“My dear Devī, sometimes I teach Māyāvāda philosophy for those who are engrossed in the mode of ignorance. But anyone in the mode of goodness who happens to hear this Māyāvāda philosophy falls down, for when I teach Māyāvāda philosophy I say that the living entity and the Supreme Lord are one and the same.”
