Cathedral Gorge State Park Nevada
I’ve heard a lot about Cathedral Gorges State Park Nevada. “It’s a day trip from Las Vegas”, “It’s a fantastic park”, “A must see”, “bla, bla, bla”. I’m glad I went. I’m glad I saw, however, I would not make this 180 mile drive from Las Vegas to see it. If you are driving by it’s a good stop, but don’t go out of your way to get here.
I loved the slot canyons. The views up were great. The took 10 degrees off the temperature as you walk through. The slot canyons were short the deepest was 25 yards. One was only 25 feet. There in almost no shade in the park. There are 2 trails in the park. We did the Juniper Loop. I would do the Eagle Point Trail instead should I ever return.
The restroom/shower were well maintained and worked well. We spent the night, but this was April. It was warm but not hot. It is a good place to stop on the way by or spend the night unless it’s summer.
And there you have an honest review of Cathedral Gorge State Park.
Great Basin National Park is close and would be a better stop. I say this never having been there. The camp grounds were still closed on this trip so we chose Cathedral Gorge instead.
The slot canyons were the highlight, but little else is worth the visit. It was a good overnight on our trip to Utah. Happy Camping!
