*SPOILER ALERT FOR TOWER OF TERROR QUEUE*

WARNING: UNINTENTIONAL OFF-PITCHED MUSIC IN VIDEO.

I have a strong interest in elevators. As such, one would assume that I would be ULTRA-thrilled by a Disney attraction that features such mode. To be honest, this attraction is one of the highest-quality I've seen with the queue, pepper's ghost effect, wire-guided trackless AGV vehicles, 4-shaft loading procedures, and 2-way drum cabling. Despite this, the last one is the reason I'd only do this for a very good reason.

Though the overall speed of the ride itself is slower than the fastest elevator in the world, this traveling at 18 m/s and the fastest at 20 m/s, the cable system allows the cab to enter an extended negative g-force situation, and this acceleration is far faster and for far longer than anything I'd be comfortable with.

I STRONGLY appreciate the significant effort WDI has put into this attraction, and if you ever manage to travel to Disney's Hollywood Studios, this is a must-do and classic Disney attraction. However, I personally am not comfortable with the extended "stomach-drop" feeling that results from the extended negative g-force, hence why I'd do Rock-n-Roller Coaster (limited -g drops, all inversions +g) and not Expedition Everest (all forward drops prioritize -g). The thumbnail is outdated, as I do not intent on going on this attraction anytime soon.

For the elevator itself, it is unusual. I find it interesting that the "Chicken Exit" for an elevator-based attraction is also an elevator, called the "Express Elevator." It uses California-Compliant Adams Survivor+ fixtures, reminiscent of something seen on a Schindler. It serves 5 floors, with each floor seeming to serve as a maintenance access to each of the five showroom floors.

This video goes into FAR more detail about the attraction's inner-workings (by Art of Engineering):    • How Disney's Tower of Terror Works

For those visiting past 2021, this attraction utilizes the Genie+ Lightning Lane.
