Mezco released their first set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles One:12 Collective turtles to great acclaim, they eventually sold out, everyone got FOMO, people bought them second hand marked up hundreds of dollars. Beloved turtles.

They then put these Cartoon or Style Guide versions of the TMNT up for sale, in stock ready to ship and they sold out in a day, but people have their misgivings about the toon eyes.

Well I am happy to report that the toon eyes look pretty good... everyone except donnie. Donatello looks great in the set don't get me wrong... but Mezco made a really weird decision, all the head for donnie are comical silly type experience and with the wide eyes he looks puppet doll, possessed child creepy. I really like him but he doesn't fit well with the other brothers expressions. I wish they would have put more thought into having matchable expressions for all the turtles.

This set while still being $400 dollars plus shipping, cuts back on accessories. Yes we do get more Raphael throwing effects for his Sai which are awesome, we do get a paper pizza box and a full pizza of individual slices, but missing are the cloth goods, donatellos gravity equalizer, one of mikey's spinning nun chucks. So on balance this set has less and costs the same. Was it worth it?

I dunno, I am irresponsible, you know this I am true to my Too Much New Toys name.. I don't not like it, I don't regret it, but I have reservations. As a whole I think this is worth it.. but you probably shouldn't be buying two of them lol.
