🔎 Security

Alright, the key thing when it comes to password managers is security. So, are NordPass and 1Password secure? Well, yeah they are but let’s take a look at why and which one is better here.

To start off, both providers offer top-of-the-market encryption. However, NordPass password manager is actually not using the industry standard AES-256 and uses XChaCha20 instead. It’s a more modern type of encryption that encrypts each bit of data individually rather than by block.

Overall, while both providers are secure, NordPass has a slight advantage here due to their more advanced encryption and more options for multifactor authentication.

⭐ Generating passwords

Both have a password generator feature. It helps me create strong passwords in a matter of seconds with customizable password length, uppercase, and lowercase letters. NordPass also allows me to generate a pass-phrase password of up to 10 words. This is great if I need to remember it as it is easier than a string of random letters, symbols, and numbers. However, 1Password has a similar pass-phrase system and also a pin number.


⭐ Sharing passwords

Now, sharing my passwords can sound a little bit uncomfortable at times. But having a password manager that allows me to do it safely makes it so much better. NordPass lets me quickly and securely share my passwords and other sensitive information like credit card details.

⭐ Autofill

Typing out your complex passwords every time would be annoying, wouldn’t it? That’s why there is an autofill feature. I’ve tested it on both providers and I’ve gotta say that NordPass’ autofill feature is a little bit more convenient. It does pretty much everything for me.

⭐ Password importing

Another convenient feature that any contender for the best password manager 2024 should have is password importing. With NordPass my password importing was really smooth and quick. In just a few clicks I managed to transfer my saved passwords from my browser.

Final thoughts ➡️

I have to side with NordPass, as it’s the dominant password manager in this 1Password vs NordPass faceoff. NordPass’ strong security and advanced encryption are its biggest selling points. Beyond that, it has robust and well-integrated features. It also includes excellent ease of use, and great customer support, and while both providers have a great price for what they deliver NordPass just has more to offer.
