SRJ Rhythm Academy is a not-for-profit organization in Brisbane (Australia), that teaches students how to play the mridangam and other Carnatic percussion instruments. It is named after the late Shri Srirangarajapuram Jayaraman Iyer, a senior vidwan from the Shri Kumbakonam Rajappa Iyer bani. The SRJ Live Series showcases recordings of live Carnatic music performances by vocalists and instrumentalists.
This video is an excerpt from our SRJ Live concert in July 2023, featuring Smt Susmitha Ravi (vocal), Sri Aswin Narayanan (violin), Sri Srirangarajapuram J Ganesan (international mridangam artiste) and Dr Arthavan Selvanathan (kanjira). It showcases the Thani Avarthanam (percussion solo) from this concert, which is set to Adhi Thaalam 2 Kalai Arai Edam (starting four counts after Samum).
