Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday alleged the previous YSRCP government (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party) used animal fat instead of ghee to prepare the Tirupati laddu prasadam at Tirumala. The prasad is offered to crores of followers visiting the Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Stirring up a controversy, Naidu said, “Even Tirumala laddu was made with substandard ingredients… they used animal fat instead of ghee.” The Chief Minister, addressing an NDA legislature party meeting in Amravati, also asserted that pure ghee was now being used for preparing the laddu and that everything had been sanitised at the temple, leading to improved quality.
