Silent Woods was perhaps Jackie's most beloved piece, (it was her choice as her "desert island" piece), but was also the source of one of my strongest and most precious memories of the time studying with her. We had shared lunch together as we often did on a Saturday, and she put on her stunningly beautiful and deeply moving recording of this piece. As she sat in her wheelchair next to me, I was struggling to keep back the tears and she reached for my hand and looked deep into my eyes with a look that I will never forget. A look of deep love, compassion, and melancholy, as if for the suffering of all mankind. She was a great soul. Such incredible love poured through her beloved cello..... THANK YOU JACKIE.
