Similar to most other Terminator films, we start in the post-apocalyptic future as Eiko and the other fellow rebels manage to get the updates on Skynet's plans. Even though the team suffers the most, as we see, most of the members get brutally killed until the final face-off between the Terminator and Eiko. Eiko manages to survive the face-off and return to her base, where she hands over the plans. The rebels discover that Skynet is using its last straw by sending Terminators back to change the past so that the present timeline can be changed accordingly.
